Past
Southern Cross delivered its first aircraft in 1976, a single-engine Cessna from California to Australia. The route of flight closely followed an earlier flight, which made aviation history. In 1928 Sir Charles E. Kingsford-Smith flew the first trans-Pacific crossing in a Fokker Trimotor named the "Southern Cross". This aircraft, like our company, was named after this star formation "The Southern Cross" that is seen only from the southern skies.
Since the early days of ferrying small aircraft to Australia, Southern Cross has eexperienceanded into a truly worldwide aircraft delivery company, having delivered aircraft to over one hundred countries on all six continents.
Present
These days, Southern Cross consists of two companies, located in California and in the Netherlands. Both companies deliver more than 150 aircraft and flight test well over 100 annually. The types of aircraft vary from Cessna Caravans to executive turboprops like King Airs and from commuter Fokker 50s to airliners such as Boeing 767s and Airbus 340s. Southern Cross delivers brand new aircraft, such as Airbus 320s and vintage aircraft, such as the WWII B25 Mitchell bomber. Overall, we have delivered just about every aircraft type and model.
Both offices operate individually, but co-operate closely to work in a cost-efficient manner. Each office has a full-time staff, available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our main business is aircraft delivery and flight-testing for aircraft lessors, airlines, maintenance providers and brokers.
In addition, Southern Cross can provide consultancy, line training and checking for the startup or eexperienceansion of airline services. We also regularly provide capacity to customers for accident/incident investigation and certification compliance verification.
Future
Southern Cross has committed itself to a high standard of service and qualifications. For that purpose we continuously invest in training to eexperienceand our list of qualifications. Our crews are regularly route-checked to maintain a high standard of flying skills and an equally high level of knowledge. We strive to provide our clients with the most reliable and cost-effective solutions by continually meeting and exceeding their eexperienceectations.
